DADA’S MAJOR PURSUITS
Spiritual : In 1975, an incredible series of circumstances, which Dada aptly describes as Nature’s ‘benevolent conspiracy’, took him to the United States where he stayed for nearly 3 years, sharing his understanding with those seriously interested. He gave talks to many different people and groups, in homes and universities. He found many eager to explore and find peace in their lives. As they began to see the delusive nature of thought and the fact that their pursuits were based merely on hope, many started looking for new understanding.
Upon his return home in 1978, Dada traveled within India as well, giving talks and interviews in different cities and towns.
Since that time, until date, Dada has made several trips abroad, visiting different parts of the globe including Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Sri Lanka and Nepal. His maximum visits, as many as 14, have been to the United States.
Currently, Dada lives in a cottage in Yeoor, near Mumbai, where seekers continue to visit him for guidance. He prefers to speak with small group and individuals, and to communicate on a personal level. Over the years, he has also corresponded with various seekers, guiding them in their self-inquiries.
Dada does not consider himself a guru. He does not run an ashram either. He feels that he can certainly point the way but the seeker has to walk using his or her own two feet.

Literary : Dada is the author of the books Beyond the Mind, Towards the Unknown and Intuitive Intelligence. Recently he has also brought out his autobiography Intelligence Beyond Thought. All his books have earned favorable reviews both in India and abroad. For instance, Lakshmi Vette Guterman wrote in the American Yoga Journal [May/June 1978]:“Beyond the Mind is an excellent presentation of real teaching, and as a tool, can assist one in experiencing what remains beyond the mind…..the author of this book is a man who possesses both power and clarity of vision”.
Dada’s letters and poems also reflect his literary creativity.
Aesthetic : Apart from his literary talent, Dada also takes beautiful photographs, which have won him prizes. Through not professionally trained, his photographs are natural and evocative. Their beauty is further enhanced by Dada’s illuminating captions and matching verses. Intuitive Intelligence is a collection of such photo-poetry. For Dada, taking a photograph is a meditative act carried out with attentive awareness, openness and humility. The photographer as an entity is negated and is lost in the surging tide of sensitivity in the present.
As Naturalist : Dada loves Nature and has always lived close to it. With his knowledge of agriculture, he has often grown his own vegetables and fruits. He carries out various agricultural experiments, turning barren land into plots of green and ensuring that he gets some fruit or the other all through the year. He is also wonderful at bee-keeping – an art he learnt after a swarm of bees chose to re-locate next to his cottage in Mahableshwar.
